Linz Tourist Attractions: Postlingbergbahn picture (Postlingberg Tram)There are plenty of opportunities to sightsee in Linz and many people find that a trip onboard the bright yellow 'City Express' road train is a good way to view some of the main tourist attractions. Those who choose to purchase the 'Linz City Ticket' will not only be entitled to a ride on the 'City Express', but will also be entitled to free admittance at a number of museums and other tourist attractions, such as the Pöstlingberg Tram, and reductions for many others.

Tourists both young and old will enjoy spending an afternoon at the city's zoo, or exploring the Botanical Gardens, which regularly rank amongst Europe's most impressive and are therefore simply not to be missed. On a sunny day, take a cruise along the River Danube and enjoy its many riverfront attractions, or enjoy the panoramas from the very top of the Pöstlingberg Hill.

A great way to gain your bearings in Linz is to take a trip onboard the Pöstlingbergbahn. This funicular railway has become one of the city's most popular tourist attractions and regularly transports passengers almost 3 km / 2 miles in just over 15 minutes, climbing over 250 metres / 820 feet along the way, something that is actually quite unique the world over. The Pöstlingberg Tram exudes great romance and dates back as far as 1898, when it was nothing short of a technological marvel. At the top of the Pöstlingberg Hill you will find a beautiful twin-spired church (Wallfahrtsbasilika), and a fun grotto railway ride (The Dragon Express) for the younger generation.
